Mims Pond Restoration

Sierra SWCD-Mims Pond-T or C, NM

2021-2022

$60,000,00

Salt Cedar treatment options, it was determined that the most effective and feasible method of extraction was the use of heavy equipment to manually remove the root crown of each individual plant unless handwork is required as stated in prior sections. This project was accomplished utilizing an excavator and a bulldozer. The removal of the root crown resulted in high mortality and long-term management of Salt Cedar in the treatment areas. Once we removed all plant material it was stacked in piles to be either burned or masticated. All work was conducted in a manner to mitigate impact to native plant species in the area.
